Frequently Asked Questions

What are our hours?

Children are in our care daily from 9:00am-3:00pm. The majority of children attend 5 days a week, though we have some limited part-time (3 and 4 day) enrollment options.

Can children be enrolled if they are not fully potty trained?

Beginning 2022, we started to enroll children at the age of 2. Because of this, we do not expect all children to be fully potty trained when they begin with us. We do ask that children be in pull-ups, and beginning their journey in toilet learning.

**We specifically ask for children to wear pull-ups with Velcro straps to make it easier for changing while wearing different types of gear and layers while at school.

What is inquiry-based learning?

Inquiry based learning puts children and their individual interests and abilities at the center of our learning and exploration. Through this approach, we use the wonderings and inquires that the children tell us and show us to direct the ways we approach literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning opportunities.

What do children need to bring to school each day?

All children come to school with a water bottle, morning snack and lunch, labeled with their first and last name. Additionally, families must provide a freshly laundered nap roll at the beginning of the week which is then sent back home at the end of each week.

What is the most important gear needed for outdoor preschool?

The most important thing your child will need is sturdy shoes with traction for exploring, climbing, and balancing on various terrain. We additionally encourage waterproof, or water-resistant outer layers, particularly in the colder months. We ask all families to keep a pair of waterproof boots at school, along with a rain suit, towel and full change of clothes.

What are some popular nut-free snacks?

For snacks and lunches: Sun butter and jelly sandwiches, cheese and crackers, yogurt and apple sauce pouches, fresh fruit, turkey/ham wraps, mac and cheese, quinoa and avocado, sliced hot dogs, carrots and humus, rice and beans.

Popular nut-free birthday treats include: Popsicles, Oreos, Rice Krispie Treats, School-Safe cupcakes

What is all-weather play?

We believe strongly in spending quality time outdoors each and every day. Our children play outside in sunny, rainy, snowy, and windy conditions. With proper attire, we give children opportunities to explore their surroundings and the changes that come with various weather conditions. In the event that the weather is very hot, or very cold, we frequently check in with children in our care to make sure they are comfortable, safe, and hydrated.

We monitor weather conditions carefully and go inside to classrooms immediately in the event of thunderstorms or hazardous conditions.
